The stage every pilgrim dreams of
The final stage of the Camino Inglés starts by crossing the bridge over the river Tambre, where pilgrims have entered this area for almost a thousand years. The first two-thirds run through rural and forest areas, always near the N-550, and include passing by a prehistoric hillfort and through an oak wood known as the "enchanted forest".
The final stretch crosses the Tambre industrial estate and the northern neighbourhoods of the city before reaching the old town and the Praza do Obradoiro, facing the Cathedral. A short, easy stage, but full of emotion: the end of the Camino.

Terrain
Gentle, with no major climbs; it starts by crossing the bridge over the river Tambre.
Scenery
Rural and forest areas for the first two-thirds, with the oak "enchanted forest" and a prehistoric hillfort.

Tracks and trails near the N-550 at first, then city pavements entering Santiago via the Tambre estate.
Towns
Santiago's northern neighbourhoods after the Tambre estate, before reaching the old town.

Bars and fountains at several points; once in the city, all services are on hand.

Good on the forest stretches; scarce on the urban approach into the city.

Getting there and back
Getting to Sigüeiro: if you start here, there are regular buses from Santiago (~20 min) and from A Coruña.
Getting back from Santiago: train and bus stations well connected with all of Spain, plus direct flights from the airport (SCQ), 12 km from the centre.
What we wish we had known
Set off early for the 12:00 Mass
Leaving Sigüeiro early gets you to the Obradoiro with time for the Compostela and the Pilgrim's Mass.
Get stamped twice a day
On the last 100 km you need two daily stamps on your credential to earn the Compostela.
Book luggage transfer in advance
If you use luggage transfer, have your pack ready the night before; the last day you walk lighter.
Save energy for the finish
The entry into Santiago drags on across pavement. Slow down and enjoy: you've arrived.
Don't ruin the final stage
Wearing new footwear on the last day
The worst moment for a blister. Use what you always wear.
Setting off too late
You'll miss the Pilgrim's Mass and find the Pilgrim Office packed.
Not booking accommodation in Santiago
In summer the city fills up. Lock in your bed in advance.
Forgetting the second stamp
Without the right stamps on the last 100 km, they won't issue the Compostela.
